‘Inanimate’ Marks New Chapter for Togeki as He Prepares to Drop 12-Track Eldritch LP

Article By: Jonas Loeb

Washington D.C. based producer Togeki returns with Inanimate, the first single from his long-awaited full-length project, Eldritch LP. The single dropped October 17, marking the beginning of a three-part rollout that continues with “10,000 Teeth” on October 30, leading up to the full album release on November 7. Fans can presave the album now at https://vyd.co/Eldritch.

Here were my first impressions of Inanimate once it came out: This track begins with near silence as a plonky melody slowly creeps in. The track immediately evokes a feeling of mystery and discovery, before quickly fading into one of my favorite minimal drum and bass drops of the year. Dark, almost sinister basslines flutter about asynchronously. It’s abstract anticipation incarnate, with chunky drums to boot. As the track progresses, the melody comes back in bringing the listener back to the ground. There’s a method to the madness here.

The single provides a perfect entry point into Eldritch, a meticulously crafted project two years in the making. As Togeki explains, the LP has been a long-term creative goal:

I have been slowly working to try to piece together an album for quite some time. It’s been a goal of mine ever since I was a kid to write an album… it wasn’t until about 2 years ago that I came up with the general concept for ‘Eldritch’ and felt that my art had reached a standard of quality high enough to be presented in this way.

Musically, Eldritch is a statement piece, Togeki continued:

These tracks encompass exactly what my sound is. In many of these tracks you can hear the darker, melancholic themes in my songwriting… and as the album progresses you can hear me drift between genres and styles. These are attributes of my writing and performance that have really always prevailed and will continue to.

The project’s visual presentation, designed by Dylan Evans (@dylanevansdesign), mirrors this evolving mood. Each track carries emotional weight, representing different phases of Togeki’s last two years.

I wrote different tracks of this album at different times… I wrote the intro track ‘Eldritch’ when I was trying to write an opener for my set at Sound Haven in ’24… Inversely, I wrote ‘IHTEWM’ when I was working through a breakup… It was a therapeutic process to write such a silly and whimsical tune when dealing with such a tough time.

Known for his versatility across 140 and Drum & Bass, Togeki has carved a name for himself through sharp percussion, deep basslines, and emotionally charged atmospheres. After getting a sneak preview of the upcoming Eldritch LP, I agree that this is peak Togeki (so far). He’s supported acts including Caspa, Of The Trees, Hamdi, and Peekaboo, performing at major festivals nationwide. With Eldritch, he channels that experience into a cohesive sonic journey that refuses to conform to any single genre.
